Eloquently Speaking With
Hello everyone this is Eloquently Speaking and I am here with the singer, songwriter, poet, spoken word artist, adult educator, residential counselor and philanthropist, my beautiful black brother Mr. Larie D. Edwards.  Thank you for taking this time to do this feature on you.  I so appreciate your heart, your gifts and your talents! You are an amazing man and I really enjoyed getting to know you through your this interview!  Let's get started shall we? *smile*

ES: In your profile it states that you are an educator, what exactly do you do you?

Larie: I am currently an Adult Educator/Residential Counselor for a Homeless Shelter.

ES: As an educator, what are the highs and lows of your job?

Larie: The high points are seeing students succeed and wanting extra help.
The really low point is to see someone with great potential give up or slack off.

ES: What do you love about your job? How long have you been working in this field?

I love the fact that I am giving back to the community earning a living at educating.
have worked in the field for for 15 years.

ES: What inspired to start writing & singing? and how long have you been doing both?

Larie: I started singing and writing at nine, First song was "I wish I had a pretty girl"
I would say I have been doin both 27 years.

ES: Where are you from? Where are you going? What are your aspirations?

Larie: I was born and raised in Richmond,VA currently residing in Washington DC.  I plan to win a Grammy or 2, get into extensive songwriting, acting, voice-overs, and create opportunities for others, the sky is the limit!

ES: Poetically Speaking, this is your opportunity to tell your readers how it all begin...what is your story? Your testimony, your message of HOPE to encourage somebody else? What kind of support system do you have?

Larie: It begin in the church, it began with my fathers love of music and being a talented musician himself, from early life's struggles, having an incarcerated mother for a brief point, being labeled a problem child to finding my release in poetry, music, and having strong parental guidance. That is the gist of course there is more, but hopefully this gives insight.

ES: What is your ultimate goal? Do you have a vision/mission statement?

My ultimate goal is to be happy doing what I love to do for a living and sharing with the world.

ES: Okay, here is a piece that I wrote after you read it, please tell me what kind of pen that you have and how you are using your pen?

Larie:  I cant help it if im to raw and to real when i writeto ignitethe truth that comes form this pen will resonate spiritual omens. I might bite my tonque on certain situations, but I will never slight my pen when i feel that no holds barred sensation. I will never put my pen on silent mode, it will always bark out to the universe without silent code. My pen will be that machine gun that sprays words like bullets leaving holes in souls to be exposed. My pen will be my shield and sword when it comes down to a spiritual warfare.  My pen will be my shield that lightning rod that sparks a movement from voices within to end to destroy conflict and despair.  Sometimes I need a special one just to feel the  stroke though.  Sometimes I even take my pen and lay beside my pillow. If I was a weed smoker I would change habits and smoke my pen and get high off the ink alone,. The imagery, imagination, and creativity from it would leave me blissful and forever stoned.  And if you think im sayin some tata shit, naw i aint biz markie I aint caught the vapors me and this damn pen have has a love affair since I was 7 years old. And even though i did not exactly know what love was then, I knew then that my life would be bounded to this pen forever until I am 6 feet low so just remember what you here, there is truth in this pen.

ES: Tell me about upcoming events, where you will be playing, speaking, etc.

Larie:  Just recently performed at Spokenword Billboard Awards 2014, where I was nominated Best Male Vocalist and was voted 2014 Best male vocalist of all genres.  I have some upcoming events in NYC and Chitown,I will keep everyone posted.

ES: As a beautiful black brother that is doing positive things, what would you like to say to our younger beautiful black brothers to encourage them?

Larie: I would love to tell my brothers, get educated, work hard, do not get caught up in status quo nonsense and trust God.

ES: What you like to recognize anyone that has been a blessing to you?

Larie:  First I have to recognize God who gave my talent, my father who is gospel musician Larie Edwards Sr.

Next, is my mother Mrs. Gloria Taylor Edwards who is a freelance author,There are so many I could name but to those who I hold close to my heart, they know who they are.
