Biography of Tinika
What makes a Diva most...
"Diva? They say-at first...then they meet me...and hush! Next thing you know...I've got THEM strutin!" -ϯῖͷῖkα
My name Tinika LaVern Robinson-Edwards. (Two fellows-I changed my mind about marring- or my name would be much longer!) I kept my son's last name-I earned it.
Born January 15-same as Martin Luther King, and even as a kid back in Athens, Ga I was proud of that! Only Ms Lillie, my Mama could call me LaVern-know this!)
Middle child, not the first born or the baby. The darkest child -back when the words "black!" hurt.
I was pretty quiet...then.
My motto;
This is your journey
Let your beauty glow!
Live & Love well-Do good-Seldom regret,
I am the sum of my experiences, proud of my gifts, enriched by those who have come before me.
Fueled by a source-holy.
I must be something special-the way He loves me!
That's it.
Before I discovered my own voice....
I became the "smart child"-loved it when my Grandma Gussie called me that! Can't remember a time when I wasn't writing. My thoughts only flowed fluidly on paper. Raised by two STRONG BLACK QUEENS, they both have gone home...but they are always near.
Living over 35 years in sunny California-spoils and makes you expect each day to be amazing!
I am faith-filled.
A grown son. Married 17 years before we chose separate paths.
College: Business, Electronics, Sociology...graduated each.
Have worked...in one lifetime in each.
My son born with autism, became an advocate for him early.
Now, a Case Manager, a social worker, a teacher and advocate for other challenged adults as a profession-uses all my gifts!
Mad sense of humor-proud of my "crazy"
I do believe-at times I'm psychic...I seem to get to the truth of things sooner than I should...sometimes spoils the journey.
"There are a few poems that speak to and for little girls and boys, self image and self-love are so often a missing part of their rearing. I raised a son, but there have always been little girls in my life, family members-always. One area of my work involves helping disabled mothers learn to parent their children. But the work starts with helping them build within.
It continues to be an honor to empower others and help build self esteem.
My motto:
This is your journey
Let your beauty glow!
Live & Love well-Do good-Seldom regret,
I am the sum of my experiences, proud of my gifts, enriched by those who have come before me. Fueled by a source-holy.
I must be something special-the way He loves me!
That's it.
OLD
A Triolet Poem
AB, aA, abAB
I will glow in the hearts of Man
I will grow a lot of things but not old!
I will enliven the minds and hearts of our children
I will glow in the hearts of Man
I will seed in the world and make it bold
My spirit, forever youthfully entranced!
I will glow in the hearts of Man
I will grow a lot of things but not old!

FLESH
A mind
A soul
Nothin to hold.
Pretty
They think
But deadly cold.
Bitter
Brittle bones
I behold.
Dawn...dusk
Step...fall
All is old.
Dreams slain
Non hearin
Tale that's told.
This me...
Down deep
Death of soul.
Stripped
Parched
By days of old.
Flesh
Covered emptiness
Nothin more.
